Q: Registry Purify appears to freeze during its scan process. What's wrong?

A: Although Registry Purify may appear to freeze, please be assured that it is still running. Reason Registry Purify may appear frozen is that occasionally Registry Purify needs additional time to build its invalid entry list inside the scan results window. Other than this, any other scan or scan and repair process will occur within an acceptable time frame (normally within just a few minutes).


Q: How to scan invalid registry entries?

A: To start scanning, click on the "Analyze" button, analyzing starts. By default Registry Purify will scan all sections.


Q: How to verify invalid registry entries?

A: After finished analyzing of your Windows Registry, Registry Purify will provide you with a detailed list of all registry errors found. You can then choose to selectively clean each item or automatically repair them all. For your convenience, the list show you the invalid registry key, write time, value name and invalid data, with which you are able to examine and verify each invalid registry entry freely.

By double click any entry found in Registry Purify list, Microsoft Regedit will run focusing on the entry you just clicked. It is convenient for you to examine each entry detailedly and then make your decision.


Q: How to clean invalid registry entries?

A: Cleaning invalid registry key is very simple, you can choose from one of the two following way:

Selectively clean each

Two method to select one item in the list: one is to click the check box on the left side of each item; another is to highlight the item you want to select and click the second "Check" toolbar button. After selected item(s), just click the fifth "Clean" toolbar button to Selectively clean each.

Automatically clean all

Simply click the third "CheckAll" toolbar button to select all items and click the fifth "Clean" toolbar button to clean all.


Q: How to undo invalid registry repairs?

A: Click the sixth "Undo" toolbar(Figure 0) button, a dialog named "Undo Repairs" appears as shown below(Figure 1). Check the ?dated backup registry file(s) you want to undo, click the "Undo" button(Figure 1) on the bottom to undo repairs. Please pay attention to the second column which header is "Year/Month/Day/Hour:Minute:Second", This column helps to identify the date when registry repairs executed. By the way, the backup registry file is named with the date when repairs executed. The format is: "year.moth.day.hour.minute.second", ".reg" is the extend file name.


Q: How to directly access backup registry file?

A: For experienced user, backup registry file can be handled directly from setup folder of Registry Purify. Typically, the Registry Purify setup folder is: "C:\Program Files\Registry Purify", and backup registry file is located in "Backup" folder. NOTE: DO NOT MODIFY ANYTHING IN THE "BACKUP" FOLDER.


Q: Why should delete some backup registry files?

A: If the number of your backup registry files is over ten, Registry Purify will remind you to delete some files. For too many registry backup files will take up more hard disk space, registry backup file deleting recommended. Just check the backup registry file(s) you want to remove, click the "Delete" button on the bottom to delete (direct deleting, not in "Recycle Bin") file(s).


Q: What format Registry Purify used for registry backup?

A: For end user's convenience, Registry Purify's backup registry file is compatible with Microsoft Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00. The registry file is fully opened to end users, meaning that you can edit directly or just import manually by double click on it.


Q: I need to reinstall the software, unfortunately I lost my registration code. What should I do?
